Sunday Synopsis / Stumped on Sunday ~ Diane's Vintage Zest!

Sunday Synopsis / Stumped on Sunday

Happy Sunday!

I have two questions from a Stitch Once, Rip Twice member Kathy today for Stumped on Sunday.  Let's see if anyone can help her out!

What are the best bobbins to purchase. I've tried three different times at the local fabric chain here called Hancock and all three times the bobbins wind fine but can't be used for sewing, they totally get bound into the bobbin case.
My other question is about irons. Mine is old, and now it leaks. I clean it but I guess the tubes inside from the steam chamber are just worn out. Who can suggest a new one? I haven't bought an iron in 30 years!

P.S. - She has a Finesse 827, if that helps with the suggestions.  Thanks!

Lastly, here are last week's posts in case you missed any.  :)

  1. I recently purchased a Rowenta Effective. I love the feel of the iron, glides easily over fabric, the steam function is great and my favorite feature is that the cord reels in. It uses tap water instead of distilled water which is great because it uses a lot of water or maybe I just use a lot of steam. It does have a automatic shut off feature, giving you 30 minutes to let it sit between uses. I started checking out irons in November and was shocked at some of the prices. I found them from $10 to $400. This one was $80 but if I done more research I could have bought it for less.

  2. Gosh! $400! It better come with a $350 rebate. :)

  3. I'd suggest that you get an iron with a steam generator if you can afford it. They are a bit more expensive compared to the regular irons that fit only a little of water in them and produce only a bit of steam. But steam generator irons make ironing a LOT easier. There's more steam which means ironing becomes fun. I have a multifunctional Unitecno steam generator that can be used as a cleaner and an iron. But there are cheaper similar things out there what function only as an iron but do the job just as well.

  4. Fun ironing! I'll definitely pass this along, thanks! :)
