Weekly Wrap-Up: Food & basketball!

Well, I finally have a few things to share with you again for this week's wrap-up!  Lots of food and fun again this week, so we'll just get to it.  :)

Precap:

On Saturday, I had a bunch of errands to run (for future projects that I can't wait to share!), but afterwards we took some time out to go to dinner.  My guy was recognized at work and had a gift certificate to P.F. Chang's.  Besides the desserts above, we had the dishes below.  See the whole dinner at The Episodic Eater!

On Sunday, I did a bit of work on three separate projects.  Woo!  We already had a dinner planned, which I was really looking forward to.  We went to Ditmas Kitchen & Cocktails, which was amazing!  Check out the Short Ribs below!

Someone else had the Salmon below and there were so many great dishes such as the Poultry (roast chicken), Kale Caesar Salad, Tuna Carpaccio, Steak Tartar, Vidalia Onion Rounds, Butterscotch Pudding, Lemon Meringue dessert, and more!  Check out The Episodic Eater post here!

Weekly Wrap-Up: Horse Racing, strolling in Seal Beach, and food fun!

This will be a short weekly wrap-up, but this time it's on my regular Wednesday day.  Yes!  On a side note, this was definitely the perfect weekend!  Lots of plans, but lots of "R & R" time too.  :)  Perfecto!

Precap:

Friday

Although I didn't do anything fun, I did get a great opportunity to network and talked with someone who offered me a potentially amazing opportunity for my professional life.  Super exciting!

Saturday

I woke up bright and early to work out at 7am, so I could go house hunting for the whole morning.  It is definitely exhausting, but hopefully the hard work will result in a house of our own soon!

Since we were in the area, we had a late lunch at El Campeon, which is an awesome authentic Mexican restaurant.  Mmm!

I ordered a Beef Barbacoa and my guy had three taquitos.  They were both served with beans & rice.  These were easily the best beans that we've ever had!  I'm not a huge fan of refried beans, but these were perfectly seasoned with a wonderful texture.  Also, they had a great display of breads, so bought a couple to take back home.  :)

We had just enough time to stop off at home and freshen up before going to the Los Alamitos Race Course.  It was another online deal that I wanted to try out, especially because I had never been.  Whenever anyone says that they're "off to the races," it reminds me of The Marx Brothers' movie.  :)

The horse racing was so much fun, especially because we had entrance into the Vessels Club.  It was a beautiful course, which was totally surprising to me.

We were located just near the Finish Line, which made for some exciting races!  We had a bit to eat and drink while reading the race guide and placing a few bets.  My guy made 3 bets (including one long-shot) and I made 2.  He didn't win any of his... and I won both of mine!  Mine were a bit more conservative of course, so it didn't quite make up for our losses.  Yep, this pair of big spenders lost $2.10 playing the ponies.  :)

Weekly Wrap-Up: A weekend of firsts!

This weekend was really fun (and busy) since it was my last chance to celebrate my birthday until next year AND I had a bunch of online deals that we had to use before they expired!

I actually had planned to go to the horse races on Sunday, but we ended up having to postpone to go to a graduation party instead.  No biggie, because this was truly a weekend of firsts!  Just check out the precap.  :)

Friday

We decided to kick off the weekend by having one last birthday dinner.  Yay!

My wonderful guy gave me my birthday present just before we ate, and it's...

A SERGER!!!

I CANNOT wait to use it, but for right now, I have lots of work to do and it'll have to wait for a bit...  :(

Anyways, I wasn't up for a long, fancy meal so we went to The Attic, which has some great comfort food.  We started off with some yummy appetizers: a delish Wedge Salad and Short Rib Sliders!

Our entrees were amazing, as expected.  Clockwise starting from the top left: the Wild Boar special, Chicken & Okra Gumbo, Buttermilk Fried Chicken, and the Shrimp Po Boy.  I don't eat fried chicken that often, but this one is sooo worth it!

I had a complimentary birthday dessert, but we couldn't help but get another one to split.  :)  There was a tie between both desserts as to which was better.  We couldn't agree!  Both the Peach Cobbler a la mode and the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding were delicious even though we were stuffed!

Weekend Review: Lakers, a movie, archery, burgers, and cutting fabric!

I like the idea of wrapping up the week by summarizing my mini-adventures and project updates.

Most people look at the natural end of the week as Friday, with Wednesday as the hump day to get over.  I like Wednesdays as a reflection what happened the past weekend (it needs a couple of days to settle in), and a day to plan what happens for the next weekend!

So from now on, weekend reviews will be on Wednesday!*
