DIY Cupcake Stands for under $2!

This is a simple little cupcake stand that I wanted to share with you all, from way back when I made my S'mores Mini Donuts.  I love this DIY because I put together for under $2 and it's super, super simple!  I bought these items at the 99¢ Only Stores, but depending on the selection at your nearest dollar store, thrift shop, or items around your house, you can make it totally unique and for even less!

Also, I am calling this a cupcake stand because it would be just perfect for that.  However, it is obviously the right size for my mini donuts, as a catch-all for earrings or small pieces of jewelry, or whatever uses you can come up with.  The possibilities are endless!

Best of all, now I have a nice little cupcake display area for about $5!

35 One-Hour DIYs & Recipes!

As you may know, we are heading into Daylight Savings Time on Sunday, so we are going to lose an hour.  Boo!  However, that means that we will have nice sunlight after work.  Yay!

For my flavor, I went with one of my favorite pre-game recipes!  Basically, it's a jalapeño popper (or sweet pepper in my pictures) stuffed with cream cheese and turkey sausage.  It is so delicious!  It is one of my favorite recipes to make and eat because it is always exciting when someone bites into it for the first time and finds all of the different spicy, creamy, and tangy flavors.  Yum!  Hopefully, it can turn into an awesome chip flavor, and this is just what it would look like if I won.  Nice!

Wooden Basket Dilemma for Stumped on Sunday / Sunday Synopsis

Today's Stumped on Sunday question is about the wood basket (pictured below) that I shared with you on Friday.  Basically, this is what I ended up with and I'm not a huge fan, but I still want to finish it.  My question is...

Do you think I should paint it, stain it, cover it up with fabric, or just give it away?

Field Day Wearables Feature!

As you can tell, just before the holiday season, I hit a ton of craft shows because they always pick up around then!  Well, one thing always seems to be on short supply, and that's the unique clothing options!  Well, I absolutely loved Field Day Wearables as soon as I saw them at Patchwork Santa Ana.

Take a gander at all of the beautiful clothes, the fun details (real pockets!), and the surprising material for some of the prettiest dresses!  Hint, hint... it's "completely conscious," otherwise known as up-cycled and vintage materials!

Tell me a little bit about yourself!

I started field day in 2005 after moving back to  the bay from Asheville NC.  I wanted to create a fun, flattering and functional line of clothing all made from sustainable materials.


Where did the name of your store come from?

I chose to call my line Field Day because I wanted it convey a youthful feeling of having a field day.

Why did you start making goods for Field Day?

I have always made things.  It seemed like a great profession for me to stay busy and create the clothing I wanted but couldn't find anywhere.


What is your favorite item?

The sheet dress is field days most flattering cut for many sizes and shapes. It sits high waisted and has elastic threading on the back to fit cute and comfortable.  It's made from vintage bed sheets or dead stock fabrics in small batches.  I dye alot of the bed sheets for an even more one of a kind look.
It has brass buttons and an option flip down or button up lapel giving you choice on just how much skin you would like to show. Durable pockets you could fit a small puppy in. Can be worn causally with boots or play dress-up with some high heels.
