DIY Wood Round Ring Holder from Erica

Today's amazing post comes from Erica of Dwell Beautiful!  Remember the fallen wood that I wasn't sure what to do with?  Well, I have (at least) one slice set specifically aside for this project!  It looks so good, but Erica explains step-by-step how to make it, so you can whip one up lickety-split.

Now, over to Erica!

Hello Everyone!

I'm super excited to be guest posting today at Vintage Zest!  Diane is a fabulous blogger and I'm honored to be here.

A bit of background info about me - I'm Erica over at Dwell Beautiful and I specialize in DIY craft and home decor tutorials and decorating your house on a budget!  Today I'm bringing you a special tutorial on how to make your very own wood round ring holder.  I had several rings that were just sitting getting dusty in my jewelry box and decided they needed a good place to be displayed when I'm not wearing them. This is a super easy and quick tutorial that anyone can make!  Let's get started :)

Materials

  • Wood Round (I found mine at Michael's for a few dollars!)
  • Drill with 3/32 size drill bit
  • 3/4" gold cup hooks
  • China marker or pencil
  • Optional: hanging or stand making materials

Step 1

Take your china marker or pencil and lightly mark where you want your cup hooks to go. If you want to get really accurate, use a measuring tape or ruler to evenly space your marks. I just eyeballed it since I wanted a more imperfect and rustic look!

Step 2

Drill away! Position your drill over the top of the marks you made and start your drill, applying gentle pressure. Don't go too far otherwise you'll drill through the other side! A few seconds of drilling should be more than deep enough for your hooks.

 Step 3

Screw in those cup hooks! These screw in easily by hand. Tighten them and face them all in your desired direction! If you find they aren't screwing in easily, take your drill and drill the hole a bit deeper so the screw has enough room to catch.

 Step 4 (Optional)

Add some sort of device to the back of your round so you can hang it or stand it up. I knew that I wanted mine to stand on my dresser so I got creative and found an old wooden Ikea coaster I wasn't using and simply nailed it at an angle into the back! Some other fun options would be to add a picture hanging hook for a clean look or stapling a ribbon or bit of twine to the back for a fun hanging look. It's up to you!

And here is the finished product!

Isn't she a beauty?? I love the soft gold of the hooks and the warm rich tones and texture of the wood round. It's the perfect combo, in my opinion! Hang all your favorite rings from the hooks to sit pretty until you are ready to wear them :)

I absolutely love the detailing on the wood! It fits the rustic look I was going for perfectly. Here are few photos of it in my little jewelry corner!

  7. Very nice post, thanks for sharing such valuable information. In the today’s life it is very important for us to become crafty if we like to use waste or unused products. This is really very unique idea to make ring holder and it looks very attractive. As I am a jewelry lover and I have collection of gems stones rings so this will be a great idea for me. I generally like to wear gems stone ring because it looks more attractive and royal. You can check latest collection on http://etanzaniteshop.com/
