Tip Testing for Sweeter Pineapple! ~ Diane's Vintage Zest!

Tip Testing for Sweeter Pineapple!

Every so once in a while, I like to share a useful tip with you lovely readers!  For some reason, it usually involves fruit & veggies...  See my strawberry tip, melon tip, orange cleaner tip, can tip (featuring corn), tomato seed tip, and green onion tips for proof.  :)

Anyways, we tried this out this tip before a party to see if it would make our pineapple sweeter.  Check it out!

Tip Testing for Sweeter Pineapple

First of all, let me share with you the tip that I was testing out!

Tip Testing for Sweeter Pineapple

I heard that it is useful to slice the top off of a pineapple and flip it upside down for 30 minutes in order to distribute the sugars evenly throughout the fruit.  That way it is nice and sweet all throughout without any bland spots.

So I tried it and...eh.

I'm disappointed!  It was a sweet pineapple, but mostly near the bottom as usual.

Anyways, I may try to store it upside down as soon as I buy it, just to see if that makes a difference.  :)

Have you had luck with this tip?

  3. I've heard that you can tell the ripeness of a pineapple if when you pull one of the center stalks it comes out easily!

  5. I haven't heard of this. I always look for the yellowish pineapples when I buy them. This year I have 9 pineapples growing. Can't wait until they are ripe.

  6. All I heard is that you want the leaves to be green and the fruit should be firm, but you never know until you cut inside!
