DIY Cupcake Stands for under $2! ~ Diane's Vintage Zest!

DIY Cupcake Stands for under $2!

This is a simple little cupcake stand that I wanted to share with you all, from way back when I made my S'mores Mini Donuts.  I love this DIY because I put together for under $2 and it's super, super simple!  I bought these items at the 99¢ Only Stores, but depending on the selection at your nearest dollar store, thrift shop, or items around your house, you can make it totally unique and for even less!

Also, I am calling this a cupcake stand because it would be just perfect for that.  However, it is obviously the right size for my mini donuts, as a catch-all for earrings or small pieces of jewelry, or whatever uses you can come up with.  The possibilities are endless!

Best of all, now I have a nice little cupcake display area for about $5!

So how did I do this?  Let's see the starting materials!

Yep, those are candlesticks and ashtrays from the 99¢ Only Stores, so obviously never used.  :)  All I did was try out different combinations in the store to see what I liked.  If you would like to make them permanent, just use some E6000 Craft Adhesive to glue them together, but first let me show you how I "designed" them!

First, I try all of the different tops on the same bottom and take note of which combinations I like.

Then, I try out the same bottom right-side-up and then upside-down.  I liked the version on the right better, which was actually with the candlestick upside down!

Some combinations were not as fun, like this one.

If you have access to other thrift shops, estate sales, or even dishes that been handed down, you can come up with all sorts of pretty stands.

Happy DIY-ing!

  2. Thanks so much! I'm sure the store thought it was odd when I bought only ashtrays and candlesticks. :)
