Tell me a little bit about yourself!
I was born and raised in Los Angeles. My mother is a professional seamstress and my father is a photographer. I grew up around making clothing and then photographing it. I knew I had to continue what I love and grew up doing into a professional career. After high school I went to the Art Institute and received my Bachelor's Degree in Fashion Design.
Where did the name of your store come from?
My mother, sister and I have always wanted to be in business together. With my mom a professional seamstress, my sister a business major and my love of design we made a great team! They will always be my biggest inspiration and that is why I wanted to use "Third" in the name. "Palace" is a representation of the type of clothing. It is very feminine clothing. Whether its a sequined cocktail dress or a casual summer top, there is always a touch of femininity, sexiness, and glam!
Why did you start making clothing for Third Palace?
I opened an Etsy shop many years ago to try to sell my school projects and make some money to pay of those massive loans. I never thought anything would come of it, but I quickly started selling and I had never been happier! It makes the happiest person in the world when I receive a good review. I continued to sell online while working full-time in the industry for 5 years. Now, I am currently working full time on Third Palace.
What is your favorite item?
My favorite item is also my most popular item. It is the "Gold Sequins Twofer Cocktail Dress." It was specifically designed for my favorite holiday - NEW YEAR'S! I searched one year for a dress that was not too revealing, sparkled and had long sleeves for a chilly New Year's Eve. But I never found it! That is when this dress was born. Most of my favorite pieces are designed for a certain holiday in mind such as Thanksgiving dinner or for a Birthday girl.
Where do you get the inspiration for your work?
I am inspired by my surroundings. By the people I surround myself around. By the LA lifestyle where you can go from being at the beach in the day, off to lunch/dinner at the top of downtown, and then dancing in Hollywood at night!
What makes your store unique?
It feels like fashion is overloaded with overly trendy stores at the moment. My store is classic and wearable for many years, without worrying about a trend dying out. It doesn't attach itself to one type of person or age limit. Simply, I dress women who like to feel feminine!
What is the toughest part about making your goods/your artistic process?
The toughest part is figuring out "who you are as a designer" and how to brand it. Once you do... how will anyone ever see it?
Do you take custom orders?
I do custom order on most of the cocktail and wedding items. There are no returns or exchanges for custom orders. Depending on the item, it can take from 3 - 8 weeks to complete.
When is the last day I can order in time for Christmas Day?
For most pre-made items (such as scarves, tops, bottoms) the last day will be December 18th. No more custom orders are being taken for arrival of Christmas. Custom orders for New Year's will be December 7th.
