Can you believe how fast 2016 is going by?! This is about the time of year that a lot of people end up bailing on their resolutions... but I say let's get motivated instead! Today, I put together a set of three printables plus phone wallpapers for you, which help keep me on track with my goals.
These are positive messages that work for just about anyone, but personally I am working on choosing healthier options and taking care of myself. Before I get to the fun freebies, I have a few tips that are helping me to set my sights on my goals and achieve them ASAP!
At first, I wanted to just make some free printables that you could hang on your wall for inspiration, as you can see below. They are pretty cute, but not too cute for the man in your life. :)
Then, I had a lightbulb moment to turn my images into phone wallpapers as you can see above!
I use my phone wallpaper as a reminder to choose those healthy options. The best part is that I get the motivational messages on the go, especially when I am faced with food decisions. In fact, when I was at Walmart the other day, shopping for some road trip snacks, I pulled out my phone to make sure that I skipped the bad stuff and instead bought my favorite healthy items! V8 V-Fusion®, I'm looking at you!
Tip #1: Buy Smart!
Healthy choices begin at the checkout stand, so keeping your grocery cart full of healthy items is the way to go. No excuses! ;)
As you can see below, I like to buy V8 V-Fusion® because it tastes fantastic and has one full serving of vegetables and one full serving of fruit in each glass. Wow! It also comes in a light version with 50% less calories and sugar, which my mom prefers.
Tip #2: Track Your Goals as You Go
It's a good idea to check in at least once in a while to see how your efforts are paying off. I use my Fitbit to make sure I'm on top of my exercise goals. However, don't go too crazy stepping on the scale after every meal! (I know one girl who did this...) Also, if you have a minor setback, just readjust what you are doing instead of giving up. Be positive!
Tip #3: Plan for Obstacles
Basically, always have a Plan B for problems that you know will arise. For me, I am constantly on the go, so I want to make sure I have healthy options on hand when I'm running out the door. Personally, I will buy V8 V-Fusion® juices in a variety of flavors in the large 46 oz. bottles for when I'm at home. (Here, I'm enjoying the Açai Mixed Berry.)
However, when I need something quick, I buy the multipacks which also come in the same delicious flavors! I love the Strawberry Banana flavor because it reminds me of one of the paletas (Mexican popsicles) I used to eat as a child, but with waaaay less sugar!
Tip #4: Set Reasonable Goals
If I tried to eat healthy 100% of the time, it would practically be impossible. I would miss out on my friends and family outings, and I would have to quit my dining out blog, The Episodic Eater.
So for me, a reasonable goal is to make healthy choices when I have the option. That means I want to have food and drinks around that I love eating and drinking, so I can keep choosing the right items time after time. For example, I could go on one of those cleanses full of lemon juice, cayenne pepper and all kinds of crazy ingredients, but I would quit in an hour!
Instead, I reach for healthy AND delicious items that fit in my goals, like fresh fruit, cut vegetables, and V8 V-Fusion® juices. Oh, and even though I'm showing you just the Açai Mixed Berry and Strawberry Banana Flavors, they have the amazing Pomegranate Blueberry and Peach Mango flavors that I love too!
So are you ready to get started and even more ready for those freebies?
