Handmade Gift Feature & Discount from Traditionally Unique!

Today's feature is from Jenn of Traditionally Unique!  She has soooo many cute fabrics for her cloth napkins and aprons, I had such a hard time deciding what to photograph!  Not only does she sew every piece herself, she offers sewing lessons for anyone who wants to learn locally.  So, this is like a two-in-one feature with both her beautiful goods and sewing lessons for anyone who wants to use their neglected sewing machine.  :)

Check out the interview below and the discounts that Jenn is offering this holiday season!

Tell me a little bit about yourself!

My name is Jenn Gomez and I am the owner of Traditionally Unique.  I grew up sewing with my mom and a close family friend.  Over the past 25+ years I have made everything from housewares to formal wear.  Nowadays many of my projects are made with my 2 year old daughter perched on my lap, learning the same way I did.  I am lucky enough to have the most supportive husband who is the muscles behind my creativity and helps me tremendously by building displays and working through new ideas with me.

Where did the name of your store come from?

I wanted a name to reflect the fact that although I make things that are considered to be very traditional (cloth napkins and aprons) I am doing it in a way that is fresh, fun, and works in our modern lifestyle.

Why did you start making goods for Traditionally Unique?

About four years ago I was given a stack of fabric that I turned into cloth napkins for everyday use in my household.  We stopped buying paper products and haven’t missed them one bit.  I thought that I must not be the only one who wants cloth napkins that are easy to care for, look great, save money, and cut environmental waste.

What is your favorite item?

I am particularly drawn to prints that are inspired by nature.  You’ll see a lot of trees, wood grain, flowers, and birds in my collection because being outdoors is so therapeutic.

What is your most popular item?

Right now any napkins featuring birds or feathers is going to be hot.

Where do you get the inspiration for your work?

As is implied in my shop name I am drawn to designs that are reminiscent of a vintage feel.  You’ll notice that the style of my aprons or the print of many of my napkin sets have a retro vibe to them.  I love color and I enjoy mixing prints to create interesting combinations for aprons.  In fact, all the napkins I use in my house are different prints that coordinate but are one of a kind.

What makes your store unique?

Everything in my shop is designed and created by me.  The aprons are all original, made by my own pattern.  But the biggest thing that sets me apart is my napkins.  Each napkin is rectangular so it stays put on your lap, double sided so they always look beautiful, and 100% cotton so they hold up wonderfully for everyday use and laundering.

Do you take custom orders?

I welcome custom orders! Whether an apron, napkins, or even a coordinating table runner, I am happy to put together a product that will fit your decor.  As long as the request is not the week before a big show the turnaround time is likely going to be within a week.  (Larger orders on a case by case basis.)  Custom orders require a minimum deposit of 50% but can also be paid in full depending on preference.  Just click the “Request custom order” button on my Etsy or email me at traditionallyunique@hotmail.com.

When is the last day I can order in time for Christmas Day?

December 18th is the last day for delivery in time for Christmas using regular delivery.  If you’re in a pinch message me about upgrading shipping and we’ll see what we can do.

I would love to receive any of her pretty napkins as a present!  I tried to pick my favorite, but I was torn between the geometric prints, the pretty florals, and the vintage-inspired prints.  They're so cute, that I wish I could wear them, but then again that's what the aprons are for.  Ha!

As promised, Jenn is offering a couple of discounts this holiday season.  Here they are!
* A promo code for free shipping through December 31st can be found on her Instagram profile.
* Use coupon code WELCOME for 10% off your first purchase.  Let her know if you plan on supplying a discount code when placing your purchase.

I love that these are traditional, unique, and handmade gifts that would be perfect for close friends and family, or as a hostess gift.  Everyone would appreciate such a thoughtful, fun gift.  I know I would!

Happy shopping!
